"I've learned the best things in my life are the things that come like a flow or are as easy as a dance and they come to me when I'm not looking or trying too hard....just showing up with authenticity :)

I love music! Makes me feel connected to people and this guy is awesome!

jhnmyr:

Want to hear a great song? (I mean a REALLY great song?)

I taught a songwriting class at Berklee College of Music in Boston in March where I heard so many talented songwriters play some really great songs. Very few of the students have yet to record the songs they played for me, but Ken Yates wrote a tune called “I Don’t Wanna Fall in Love” and posted a live video of it on YouTube. This song moved me when I first heard it in the room and it still does today.

I love teaching at Berklee because I get to meet the artists that are going to keep the music world going strong before the rest of the world does.

Enjoy, two years early.

(lots of love to everyone else that day who fearlessly played their songs for myself and the rest of the room.)

OK guys, this was actually really awesome and brought tears to my eyes! God I love the authenticity of Leon Russell! Please watch and enjoy! Much love all!

jhnmyr:

I was thrilled to take part in inducting Leon Russell into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Most people don’t know that Leon wrote one of the greatest songs of all time, “A Song For You”, which has been covered by everyone from Donny Hathaway to Christina Aguilera. I’m really proud of our performance together so I wanted to make sure you got a chance to see it.

Practicing for my one man show tonight… Fun Fact: I never drink coffee on show days… I swear it messes with my nerves on stage. Tea it is.

Been Thinking

I am humbled by this thought a lot.  I think we all think we are “right” and sometimes trying to my enthusiasm for an idea or thought is seriously like trying to put a leash on a Tasmanian Devil…I am learning to sit on my hands…

I hate to admit, I actually kinda love this guitar. I swear my students’ style is rubbing off on me, like I found myself wanting to sag my skinny jeans earlier…OK that is a lie… but seriously dig this guitar! *woot*

jhnmyr:

GPOYGW Ibanez Steve Vai Jem Series guitar in Loch Ness Green. Thanks to the Ibanez Custom Shop. One of the first guitars I’ve ever pined for, as if it were brand new in 1989. FMLFTW
